WoW Predictions #1 – expansion packs

murlocrace.jpgMy first prediction for the future of WoW is this. Blizzard will release 2 more expansions after Wrath of the Lich King, raising the level cap 10 for each expansion, making the final level cap 100.

Additionally There will be an average of 18months between each add-on, giving the game an estimated expected lifespan until 2013. This will allow blizzard to have overlap between World of Warcraft, and it’s upcoming MMO(s) of 2-3 years.

  1. Burning Crusade – Outland – 2 new races – lvl70
  2. Wrath of the Lich King – Northrend – 1 new class – lvl80
  3. ?? – Undermine / Kazan – ?? – lvl90
  4. ?? – Maelstrom – ?? – lvl100

expect races such as the goblin (horde), Murloc (alliance), and recently announced Tuskarr (horde) races to become playable at some point over the latter two add-ons, with a potential for a race to swap sides from horde to alliance.

Note, this post is all speculation.

hey man i think youve got an idea going, i really cant see the murlocs ever becoming a race…..but everything else sounds good.

yeah I also doubt murlocs will become a class for the alliance, maybe they’re make a neutral faction or somethin and put murlocs there, or Like the Night Elves/Blood Elves, do something like Holy/Unholy murlocs but idk xD

Hey man, I already know the next expansion….. Its called World of Warcrarft the Forsaken…. You can know that from watching the wrathgate video in Dragonblight, Northrend….. Yes it is obvious Blizzard will raise the level cap to 90 and again I doubt the murlock race…… I can also see what your saying good job! Also nice picture!!!

  4. I’m still fairly sure we’re going to see the maelstrom, kazan, undermine, and the emerald dream

for those that don’t know the first three in that list will involve some form of water mount, which are already starting to appear in the game. very early shots of possible sections from the emerald dream can also be found online..

yeah, the forsaken kick some ass in the wrathgate video, but their backstory is already fairly expansive in the game, and well explored, whereas others are not. For example, there are still at least three areas in the old world map that can be used for future content. Uldum, Grim Batol, and gilneas, which involve the titans, dwarven, and humans respectively.

  5. Murlocs could possibly be a race. Not for the alliance tho murlocs have a whole song called I AM MURLOC sang by the HORDE rock band L80ETC that made up of Blizzard staff. Most of blizzard staff like the horde better than the alliance and yeah we do like the horde better than alliance

Actually it isnt called “The Forsaken” its called Cataclysm and the 2 new races are Goblins(horde) and Worgen(alliance), 2 new zones: Lost Isles(goblins) Gilneas(worgen), Grim Batol and Uldum are high level zones, also there is a bunch of new lava and cracks that have destroyed most of Azeroth because of the return of Deathwing. Level cap is 85, new secondary skill: Archaology, flying mounts in Azeroth, Path of the Titans, Guild leveling, rated battlegrounds. All this stuff comes out October, 2010.

I do think there will be an Emerald Dream expansion at some time, also perhaps the Tuskarr a playable race? We will see. I like the idea that the expansions stop at lvl 100, however the way Blizzard has created Cataclysm makes it seem as if they plan to go past 100 as the permanent lvl cap. Cant wait to see what happens! Awesome picture too!!!!!
